Evaluation of hygienic and Quarantine regulations for imported horses in Egypt

Abstract

Quarantine regulation requirements for the importation of horses in Egypt and the most important quarantines in Cairo and Giza approved by G.O.V.S. used for imported horses must be accompanied by an International certificate from the veterinary administration of the exporting country. Hygienic and construction criteria of quarantines were hygienically inspected in relation to the main road ranging from 20m to upto100m, the length of the stall ranged from 3.5m up to 4.8m, and the width of the stall ranged from 2.5m up to 3.5m. The type of floor was a cement concert, and in all surveyed quarantines except Cairo stadium, there were concerts and ceramics. Swing door was the type of door in all evaluated quarantines while sliding doors in Concord Hotel Stables. Windows, electric fans, ridge, and eave openings were the ventilation systems surveyed by quarantines. The type of light was fluorescent in all evaluated quarantines, while incandescent light was in Shams Club. Concrete, asbestos, wood with insulation, and metal were the types of roofs in all inspected quarantines. The gable shed and monitor shape were the shape of the roof in Cairo Airport, Cairo Stadium, and Concord Hotel stables; respectively. Feeding and drainage systems were manual while the drinking system was automatic.
